GDPR Compliance
Effective Date: May 14, 2026
1. Who This Applies To
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you specific rights regarding your personal data. Even though 9talks is an independent, unincorporated platform, we take these rights seriously and honor them to the best of our ability.
2. What Data We Process
9talks is built on minimal data principles. Here is what we may process:
- Email addresses — only if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter. Used solely for content delivery.
- Anonymous/pseudonymous usage data — via our internal tracker (page views, subscription events). No personal identifiers.
- Technical data — minimal server-side data (e.g., IP addresses) processed by our hosting provider for security and uptime.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Consent: Email subscriptions are opt-in. You provide your email voluntarily and can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
Legitimate Interest: Our internal, anonymized tracker helps us understand platform usage and improve content. We do not use this data to profile individuals.
4. Your Rights Under GDPR
You have the following rights regarding any data we process about you:
Right to Access: You can ask what data we hold about you. In most cases, the answer will be: none that identifies you personally.
Right to Rectification: If any data is inaccurate, you can request correction.
Right to Erasure: "Right to be Forgotten" — you can request deletion of any data tied to you.
Right to Restrict Processing: You can ask us to stop processing your data.
Right to Object: You can object to our use of the internal tracker at any time.
Right to Data Portability: Where applicable, you can request your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at team@9talks.com. We will respond within 30 days.
5. Data Retention
- Email addresses: retained only while you remain subscribed. Removed upon unsubscribe request.
- Internal tracker data: anonymized and expires within 30 days. No long-term profiles are maintained.
- Server/hosting logs: managed by our hosting provider per their own retention policies.
6. Third-Party Data Processors
We use a minimal set of third-party services, each selected for their privacy-respecting practices:
- Website hosting provider — processes minimal technical data for uptime and security.
- Email delivery provider — processes subscriber email addresses solely for content delivery.
We do not use advertising networks, social media trackers, or analytics platforms that share data with third parties.
7. No Legal Entity Status
9talks is not a registered company or legal entity. While we honor GDPR principles in good faith, this may affect formal enforcement mechanisms. If you have unresolved concerns, you may also contact your local data protection authority (DPA).
